Ding-Geng (Din) Chen, Ph.D., is a professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Chen has vast experience in biostatistical research and clinical trial development and methodology. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 journal publications on biostatistical methodologies and applications. He is also the co-author (with Dr. Peace) of Clinical Trial Methodology and Clinical Trial Data Analysis Using R and a co-editor (with Drs. Sun and Peace) of Interval-Censored Time-to-Event Data: Methods and Applications. He is a member of the American Statistical Association, chair for the STAT section of the American Public Health Association, an associate editor of the Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, and an editorial board member of several other journals. Karl E. Peace, Ph.D., is the Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Scholar, senior research scientist, and professor of biostatistics in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University. He is also an adjunct professor of biostatistics at the VCU School of Medicine. Dr. Peace is a reviewer or editor of several journals, the founding editor of the Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics, and a fellow of the American Statistical Association. He has authored or co-authored over 150 articles and 10 books. I wouldn't suggest this version for those who don't have good vision because of the small print, but other than that an excellent resource. Although you do have to watch out for the English mistranslations within it. But if you do your "Do Diligence," this shouldn't be a problem.

We bought this volume for our daughter to use during her gap year in Israel, between high school and college. She found it extremely portable, and an excellent companion for her studies particularly during the Jerusalem trimester.True enough, the print is small, but in adequate light (when not on a moving train or horribly bumpy flight) it is legible and suitable.For home study, we also recommend the Artscroll Tanach, or, for those not familiar with Hebrew, and/or uncomfortable with its right-to-left format, the "New JPS" Tanakh.Additionally, for deeper commentary on the Torah, a.k.a. the Five Books of Moses, try the Stone Chumash, also from Artscroll, including larger type, English and Hebrew Edition as well as the Haftarot, Five Megillot and collected classic rabbinical commentaries.But for travelers, particularly youthful travelers, this volume is excellent.

I live in a small town that doesn't really have much of a Jewish community. The only place that I know of that sells copies of the Tanakh is Books-A-Million, but I wanted one with Hebrew in it as well and the local book stores did not stock those.So I turned to Amazon and found this lovely item from JPS. It's written with the Hebrew on the right side of the page, while the English is on the left. I love how they included both the original Hebrew text and a translated version that's very easy to read.Plus the shipping was very fast as well. I ordered it on Friday of last week (I believe) and I received my copy on Monday night. I didn't even order the "expedited" option. Very impressed with the speed and awesome service I received. Will definitely look to JPS from now on for any books I may need.

This "pocket" version of the Tanakh represents a good value.It is small in terms of width and height, but its thickness make it unusable as a "pocket" book. It would fit nicely into a briefcase without taking up too much room.The book is printed on good quality paper but the plasticized cardboard cover, once bent to the open position, doesn't want to go easily back to the closed position. Like most paperbacks, it wants to lie flat with the cover sticking straight up in the air.My vision is 20/20, even though I use cheaters with a light prescription to read fine print. In the case of this version of the Tanakh, I definitely need my cheaters to read the scripture, because the print is very small.Next time, I think I'll buy a version that's a bit bigger by height and width and not quite so thick and that has bigger print.My negative comments notwithstanding, it DOES represent good value and is very usable for the purpose for which it was intended.

Hello I’m not sure needed this for bible study and the middle of the book has pages with misprint or not all printed looks like machine defects to be honest. I’m not happy and will be requesting a replacement or refund

Truly a beautiful book. Although the writing would be considered small by some, it is very clear and the book is easy to hold. Can't put it in your pocket by any means, but that's what makes this a perfect fit for travel in a backpack and tabletop reading. Looks wonderful yet simple as a holy book should. The introduction is splendid, explaining how this version was chosen, cultivated by many scholars, and held true throughout the years by many devoted individuals. The front contains an area for dedicating this book as a gift and also includes space for important family events, history, and such.

With its interlinear nature, this book is able to be read in Hebrew, the words found, and also footnotes where more than one meaning is available, as well as giving meanings for certain Hebrew names and words. Incredible version to the greatest thing ever written, and differs from the KJV in crucial areas which are worth noting due to aldulterations/alteration of the original Hebrew text.

First of all let me say that this is my very favorite translation. The JPS version is an absolute pleasure to read.Another thing I have always appreciated about the Jewish Publication Society is the attention to detail and aesthetics in their publications regarding the appearance on the page: Typeface, layout, etc. This edition is no exception. It is compact, printed beautifully on high quality paper and with a durable paper/leather look binding. The Hebrew and English are in parallel columns, line by line, and the type is pleasing to the eye, clear, and easy to read despite its necessarily small point size.I hope this review has been helpful - I have recommended this translation for years now and was pleased to still find it in various editions today.
