Well fiddle-dee! I grabbed this book because it was recommended by a book club friend. After getting into it, realized there was a book one to the series. No worries though, I was able to follow along and will grab book one to get the full gist of the story. I love, love, loved the character Mimi! She takes us on a journey riddled with real no holes barred emotions that women feel while they're pregnant (some good, some not so good) She's put the cart before the horse, in that the kid in the oven was conceived before the ring went on the finger...***GASP*** but no worries. Mimi found her a world famous suave, debonaire author to marry and a royal blue blood to boot. Not many of us have that happen ;) The situations, from planning her wedding (her humorous lack of enthusiasm with the details) through the pregnancy had me laughing out loud, tearing up a time or two and came away feeling good about the story. I also loved Mimi's self deprecating humor...off the cuff, dry and so damn funny. Just one clicked the first book, The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan and am excited to see the origin of each unique and entertaining character. A Solid 5*s to Mimi <3

Great follow up to the first book in the series - Mimi and her family are funny and the story moves along quickly and just when you think you know where the story is headed - everything gets turned upside down. Fun to read and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series! :)

There's not much I need to add to these reviews, since most of them cover the plot twists, the PPD, etc., well enough. And I'm certainly not going to jump all over Ms. Dineen for "not respecting" post-partum depression well enough. I didn't have anything CLOSE to this, but I can well remember that feeling of absolute terror, of having a "mother bear" approach to anyone messing with my kid...or any perceived threat to my KEEPING my kid. I can remember having some pretty interesting nightmares during that time! The thing I had a problem with, though, was the whole Pippa "gift" storyline. I won't spoil it here, but let's just say that for me, that was one jarring "quirk" that didn't seem to go with the rest of things AT ALL. It seemed like little more than a contrivance, something "pasted on" as if the author said to herself, "Quick, how can I make this character unforgettable?"...and then resorting to something that wasn't just unusual but more than a little scary. Pippa could have had any one of a number of more "normal" quirks to make her lovable and unusual...rather than something that's that disturbing. It was a weakness of character building and plotting, and it could have been SO much better. The plus side? I snorted out loud at the C-section scene. So, yep, there are some moments in here that will make you giggle, too.Next time, I hope Ms. Dineen stays the heck out of the creepy end of things. Pippa deserved better!

Absolutely loved Mimi plus Two!!! Thank you Whitney Dineen for continuing Mimi's story. Fell in love with her, her quirkiness and her friends/family in your first book and you did not disappoint with book number two!!! As I read your books, I find that I want Mimi for my friend and just love every one of her quirky antics....never expected the twists and turns of her life but thoroughly enjoyed every page!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Mimi's story will continue in a 3rd novel! If you're looking for a quick summer read at the beach or the pool...you must read this book. You will fall in love with the characters and Ms. Dineen's clever writing just as much as I did!

The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan left me rolling with laughter as Mimi's hopes and dreams were all coming true. I waited anxiously for what would happen in Whitney’s newest release -- the arrival of marriage, pregnancy and baby joys all wrapped up in a nice bow? Well, Mimi Plus Two delivers one unexpected surprise after another as Mimi is transported down the aisle, along the pregnancy pathway and into motherhood. Whitney has an authenticity in her writing style that makes you feel like you are on an adventure with a friend. She unabashedly shares her wishes, worries and woes. And, she is hilarious as she faces the challenges of living a very comfortable life in the heart of her Midwest hometown. She has everything she could ever have dreamed of – plus, a lot of things she never imagined. Thankfully, she’s not alone. She’s surrounded by a cast of characters who I loved from the first book…plus new ones who arrived just in the nick of time. Summer is around the corner, and this is a perfect beach read.

I love Mimi so very much. Her first book was hysterical and I have been waiting for what feels like forever for the sequel. It wasn't what I expected but still wonderful and brutally honest. It gave a good hard look at what postpartum depression can do to you. It can make you NUTS!!! With every crazy, paranoid thing she did I saw so much of my friend that suffered from PPD. Some may read Mimi's story and think its a dramatization but it's very real. I was used to Mimi making me laugh so hard I cried and literally peed my pants - twice. It was hard reading this book and seeing her go through such a hard time. That's life though isn't it? There are ups and down but there is light at the end of the tunnel! I love a good character that really pulls me in and I can identify with. Mimi is my spirit animal. I CAN NOT wait for Whitney to finish her next book!

I think this book is hilarious! There are some lines that just had me laughing out loud! Did it get a little crazy after Mimi had the baby? Yes, but postpartum depression is a real thing and affects everyone differently. I think Elliot was amazingly patient with Mimi and I will be interested to see how their relationship continues. There are so many fun characters in this book. Whitney Dineen is a fabulously, imaginative and witty author and I thoroughly enjoy reading her books. Can't wait to see what she does next!

#156,346 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I have been a huge fan of Kay Bratt since I read "Silent Tears" and yes, I was hesitant to read a book about her journey to Panama on mission to scope it out to live there. Well, like I said, I LOVE Kay's writing and how she can make you feel like you are truly there experiencing what she is right along with you. She did just that with this book as well. I thought the insight she gave into what she experienced on this trip to Panama was really good. I like the descriptions of the areas and towns they visited and loved hearing her take on all of it. If I were thinking of moving to Panama, this book might be a good resource along with other books on Panama to help make a decision. I liked the style of writing she did in this book as it held my attention more than if she were just giving facts about each place. She made Panama sound like a very interesting place to visit for me! :)

For a few years now I have thought often of wanting to try living temporarily in another country. I think going to China several times placed this thought in my head. I watch House Hunters International all the time to see different parts of the world and how living would be in those areas. This book was wonderful and made me wish Kay would do this for several countries. Panama has never been on my list to see but after reading this book I have added it. Kay's research was great and I appreciated all the details she added. If I ever go to Panama I will surely check out many of the things she suggests. I feel I will also be more prepared for the adventure if I go having read this book. I also know now if I really do want to live in another country some of the steps I need to do to make this happen and how to research a big move. Thanks Kay for sharing your life with us. Great Book!!

After reading Silent Tears: A Journey of Hope in a Chinese Orphanage in 2013, Kay Bratt quickly became one of my favorite authors. As an adoptive mother, her writing struck a chord in me. Her personal experiences in China working with the children answered many of my questions about my own daughter.Fast forward to June 2017, and Kay continues to be one of my favorite authors. I have ready every single book she has written & look forward to many more in the future. The Pursuit of Panama is a quick read, or at least quick for me as I am known to devour books.Having done research here in the States, Kay & her husband decide to travel to Panama to see if they like Panama enough to pack up & live there. As always, Kay brings me along on her journey - discussing why they want to consider leaving, how the move would affect her & her husband as well as their family & pets. Her description of the people, the food, the culture & the various places they visited. I am right there with her. I can almost smell the fresh air, feel the sun on my arms. I could picture the people that she met.If I were to think about moving out of the country, I would definitely consider doing my research the way Kay did hers - with my feet on the ground.

I came to this book after reading Wish Me Home. I loved that book and was looking forward to this book. It is an honest tale of Kay Bratt's thoughts on making the move to Panama.. the good, the bad and the wishful. There didn't appear to be an ugly. Having made a move to another continent myself it was great to read the details of each small town or village Kay and her husband were considering. I really appreciated the honesty and vulnerability Kay offered her readers as to her inner thoughts, struggles and ultimately sacrifice as she made her decision. I would recommend this book, even if you have no intention of moving. You can visit Panama in your dreams.

I have been a fan of Kay Bratt's writing for several years. Since I first picked up Silent Tears. As an adoptive mom, to a child born in China, Kay's books have touched me in many ways. I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, written more as a boost on the ground memoir of Kay and her husband, Ben's, research into possibly moving to Panama. I found the book very interesting and very informative. It actually had me thinking it might be fun to think about doing something like this some day! I enjoyed getting to the know the author, and her personality, more through this book. I highly recommend the book for anyone considering moving to Panama, and any fan of Kay Bratt.

Didn't realize the book was going to be trying to link me to companies and second parties trying ti sell me on a move to Panama. Saddest is I paid for it.

While I'm not planning a move or even a trip to Panama, I do love the author and read everything she writes! This was an interesting read even for someone with really no interest in Panama. If you DO have plans to travel, this book is full of details that will make you better prepared for your trip. If, like me, you are simply a fan of Kay Bratt, you'll get to know her quite a bit more through this travel book as she shares bits of her personal life that we've not heard elsewhere.

Unfortunately this book was more about her adventures elsewhere than in Panama. And while she did share some worthwhile information, there was too much extraneous information in what seemed an unfocused style of writing. What can one say about a “writer” who continually tells readers that they are a successful author?
