I am in absolute love with all of Roy's cookbooks. I bought this one after having owned the newest one already. I love the difficulty and time consuming recipes, it makes my cooking obsession fun and challenging! If you enjoy Hawaiian Asian fusion and really enjoy cooking you will love these books! This book includes his famous chocolate soufflé recipe, and it's super easy too!

This book was the best one I have found for the adoption of a (not newborn) foster child. Most adoption books include a section on the birth mother choosing the adopted family with care, which is often not the case.Our little girl who is 4 laughs through the book as I tear up because she was made perfect for us.

Growing up my closest cousin (only cousin on my Mother's side) was adopted. I don't think it ever occurred to us to ask why or what that meant. It was just a thing that was. To be fair anytime the three of us (my sister, my cousin, and I) were in a tiff it was nothing for either side to retort 'I don't have to like you as you aren't my real cousin. This came from all of us and was soon forgotten as we moved onto other interests, mayhem, and tiffs. None of us ever took it seriously and we went on to be college roommates. My cousin went on to find her birth mother when we were adults. You know though, despite the never questioning or even caring that she was adopted, I never gave it much thought what the interactions she might have had outside our little circle. I just always remember how well our family handled it. There was never not knowing, it was never a secret, and it was never seen as anything less than what it was. . .family. I remember is college when she was cleaning at her mom's house and found documents from her short time in foster care while parental rights were being transferred. The fact that for a few short weeks she had a different name. I think that was the most I'd ever seen the idea of being adopted bother her. To be fair, I can't imagine ever being another name. And wondering what that person might have been compared to who I became.I tell you all of that to share why I felt it was so important for me to read and review this book. My life has been positively touched by adoption and I can't imagine my life without my cousin. While we may have grown apart as adults she is part of so many fond growing up memories. While we never found ourselves questioning anything about the idea that she was part of our family I know that many children will. I'm going to get really personal here and probably step on a lot of toes. I do not begin to understand families that keep that a child is adopted a secret, or thing they need to wait until a certain age or event or what have you to tell that child they are adopted. I feel like it throws shade on everything and unintentionally creates the mindset that they are different or bad or wrong or in some way less than other children they know. I don't remember not knowing. By not knowing it wasn't a thing. However, I'm sure there are many children less like us and more questioning things. Why? How? But? What if? Perhaps my cousin felt these things but it was never shared with me, even into our older years.I've rambled on entirely too long without sharing how much I LOVED this book and that it's the perfect addition for every families library (adoption included or not). The illustrations are quirky and engaging drawing their own conversation starters. The story, while rhyming is not sing-songy and is engaging. It brings a touch of silly to a serious conversation while still maintaining the respect for the importance and magnitude of a questioning child's fears. Perfect for families, Sunday School, and even classrooms in the public sector this book brings to light fears that many children face as well as gentle reminders that there is no such thing as a perfect child. There are no takesie backies in love.I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Just Read. I was not compensated for this review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. Beautifully written and illustrated by Katie Cruice Smith and Sarah Strickling Jones, Why Did You Choose Me? caused me to reflect on what my growing up years could have been like had my situation been different. This book gives voice to a child’s insecurities and questions, and also the parent’s need to communicate feelings of unconditional love, security, and acceptance. Among our favorite suggestions are Snow Day, Water Skiing, Poker Night, and On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!

This is a delightful book full of humor, great holiday ideas and all-out laughter! The ideas are very inexpensive and there's only a dozen (cheap) items on the Elf Shopping List. This book is for everyone who wants to really create the magic of the Christmas season for young children and people who still connect to their inner child. One of my favorite chapters is "Rappelling". Jason writes, "This is a hobby for people who like to see their life flash before their eyes ... if I want a rush, I'll leave for work 10 minutes late and try to get there on time. That's a rush!" Then there's "Tower Power." Think pillows. Lots and lots of pillows. With an elf on top. Love "Pumping Iron". Hint: it involves miniature marshmallows and toothpicks. Yep - 101 fun ideas to bring a smile to faces of every age! There's even a "Poker Night"! Every other page is a photo of an actual Elf scene. Those alone are worth the price of the book!

Such creative unique ideas! What in inspiration! Such great photos with wonderful detail!What a joy, you can sense the absolute fun and excitement the kids must have had waking up to such great activities the elves have been up to all night! The laughter and happy memories you will create is a wonderful reason to order this book! Or give is as a great gift idea! Learned a lot about the Lehman Brothers. Cotton trading of Lehman brothers in Montgomery, Alabama to 55 Water street in Manhattan to Shearson/American Express buyout in 1985. Egotistical, greedy millionaires. Read about the final couple years that ended in 2008 with bankruptcy. Now I know how they started.

Enjoyed this view of what happened to a great financial firm. Makes one wonder what other towers of power are running amuck today!

This story of greed and glory is one that has been acted out in all types of businesses - large or small, service or product, new or old. It is a parable of overinflated egos, hyperpolitical environments and the inability of individuals to see their limits when blinded by the light of self-glorification. It is essential reading for anyone in a shared leadership role - partners, executives in tightly run corporations, etc. - and is most valuable for the lessons people should learn about themselves through Lehman's demise.

This is a classic tale of a company run into the ground because it had two CEOs and two different departments fighting one another for the juicy bonuses. Moreover, the CEOs had totally different characters and a completely different business vision. One was extrovert, overambitious, jealous, profoundly selfish, impulsive, volatile, dominated by lust for power, vindictive, an intriguer. The other was rather introvert, cold, too trusting, apersonal, a bad communicator, self-centered, rather an intellectual aristocrat.The introvert was ousted by the extrovert, who wanted to run his own show.The house of Lehman was divided in two different clans: the bankers who were rather fixed on medium and long term business with stable clients and the traders who were only fixed on the short term.While the introvert CEO could stand above both business divisions in the battle for the bonuses, the extrovert was himself a trader and was rather despised by the bankers. When the latter took the rein, key banking personal left the company. The traders wanted to cash in their shares as quickly as possible and the company was gobbled up by a third party.This story shows also that `human relations matter as much as the bottom-line.'A very worth-while read.

The story of Lehman Brothers' problems in the mid-1980s. The author does a great job of depicting the characters.I hope he does one or more sequel. One could be about Lehman's problems in 2008 and another could be about two of the characters in this book who went on to found BlackRock and become two of the richest men in the world.The handling of pictures was much better than in most Kindle editions.

Good history of Investment Banking and especially Lehman Brothers. Tough reading sometimes due to the insider point of views on specific personalities and conflicts, but all in all a good representation of the historical facts and details leading up to the eventual demise of one of the largest institutional collapses of our time.

This devotional is great for young learners and we enjoy talking through the devotions each night! I gave it 4stars because it came without the title on the front! It has a light embossing where it should be but there's no ink printed where "Bedtime Devotional" should be as pictured! Not a big deal for our family, but I'd hesitate to give it as a gift...

A wonderful book to read to your children or Grandchildren!!! We all love this book. What a great way to teach the children in your life about God and morals.

My LO and I read this every night as part of bedtime routine. It's so wonderful that I know the last thing heard is God's truths, an example of how to act/what to do with everyday occurrences of life as well as practical reasons and thoughts to correlate the two. Great job Mike Berenstain! This is a must buy!

As a huge Berenstein Bears fan, I had to buy his book for my son. It’s really better for younger kids. The devotionals are very short and sweet

Who would not love the Berenstain Bears! They are a sweet family who messes up and love each other through it with wisdom from God. I love that my children can read these without me needing to review them and vet them constantly. This is no exception. Sweet age appropriate devotionals that are short and easy to do daily for a child. Adorable!

Sweet and thoughtful devotional to help share God's word and message with children in a way that is fun and engaging. I've since purchased 2 additional copies for my niece and god daughter.

I love it! We have several devotionals including the Jesus Calling for kids. This Berenstain Bears devotional is the best. Worth every penny! We've made it part of our bedtime routine at bedtime for my 5 year old & she loves it. I appreciate the setup of a Bible verse, then a brief relatable story & the prayer at the end.

Our 2 yo grandchild and parents like this devotional. Mom requested this as a gift idea.

I have been trying to write a review for this book for 2 days now and I don’t know where to start. I would like to start off by saying don’t believe the hype of this book. I bought this book because I saw so many teachers reading it. I heard such great things and it got me interested. The book was redundant. Spoiler alert: Wade plays the drums in his class like it’s School of Rock and Hope loves room transformations. That’s it. That’s the book. No, this isn’t the Joker talking and I’m not jealous. I don’t know what I was expecting from this book, but I’m severely disappointed. The topics in this book are obvious. This was no how-to book. It’s a book that just talks about the same things. We get it, transform your room and have no excuses, BUT WAIT don’t do it too often because it loses its magic. If I could give zero stars, I would. Teachers, this book won’t change your life or student’s lives. If you’re even considering getting this book, don’t. I regret spending my money on this.

The Wild Card is truly AMAZING! This book is a must-read for all beginning teachers, seasoned teachers, and administrators. It reminds us all as to why we chose this profession and encourages us to stay on track with our "WHY." I found myself numerous times saying "YES!" out loud, annotating "YES!" in the margins and nodding my head in agreement. This book brought many emotions as I read Hope's and Wade's experiences, as it reflected many feelings that I have felt and experienced personally. While reading, I had numerous people come to mind and knew immediately that The Wild Card would impact their lives, as much as it touched mine. I had to quickly purchase several copies for my secret pal, my mentee, birthday gifts, etc. The Wild Card will be on my gift list for educators in the future, as well. There are countless educational books out there, but never before have I felt such a connection. I'm grateful that Hope and Wade provided insight to let us know that we are not alone, with our experiences and thoughts, as educators. Their encouragement is contagious~ what an inspiration!

I’m reading this book as a school-based speech-language pathologist (SLP), and I’m absolutely loving it. Something about the way Hope and Wade write, it just... speaks to me! Since I don’t have a ton in common with them (different job title, for starters), I’m guessing this book will speak to you, too. It’s well-written and easy to read, and it offers practical, step by step strategies to really up your game as a teacher. I’m recommending it to all my teacher & SLP friends!

Engaging right from the start! As a young teacher this book inspires (me) to continue to find the "why" and work towards the goal. With such a simple concept that we, as the teacher can be the 'wild card' the book leaves you wanting to race to school everyday to be with your students. Hope and Wade seem to have such a heart and passion for every little thing they do, this truly shows in both their book and their teaching. They are picture perfect role models for any educator.I would recommend this book as a graduation gift for any educator, no matter the level. I have followed Hope and Wade King for several years on social media. I was lucky enough to see them teach and hear them present at their school, The Ron Clark Academy. They are dynamic and inspiring educators that share what they do with all who want to learn. I knew when I began reading this book that it would be just as inspirational as they were while presenting (and I was right). I loved reading their 7 step process on how to become the engaging and creative teacher you always wanted to be. It is an excellent guide for new and experienced educators alike.

Hope & Wade King are encouraging, empowering, and inspiring to me as a fellow teacher. I am so appreciative of how they break down practical steps for me to accept and embrace my own creative style. I wanted to become a teacher because I loved all subjects (i.e. art, music, science, math, etc.), and so I wanted share my love for learning with my students, but for a while I felt like I wasn't tapping into any of that. My passion, creativity, and joy decreased rapidly along the way; I felt like I was dealt with such tough hands/cards for many years. Hope & Wade helped reset my mindset, and I needed their very real examples and experiences to show me that I, too, can be a rock star teacher like them, no matter what comes my way. The best part is that it will be in my own unique way. This book will be my go-to resource this summer; I look forward to diving into each chapter again, slower and deeper, as I reflect on my craft before another school year.

I very uplifting read from some very creative authors. The book is basically a narrative of how the authors become creative teachers, while overcoming obstacles along the way. Their goal is to convince you that every teacher can be creative. In my opinion, the book relates better to elementary grades and lower. Although the book suggests buying from thrift stores and asking for donations, budget cost will likely be an issue for many teachers if you adopt their methods. There are some practical suggestions at the end of the book.

I have His complete Works of 1400 plus pages...I've been reading him for awhile now and his words of insight have changed my life in relationship to God's Word. This is a great tool of insight in a world of ongoing time restraints, his poignant statements don't compromise his loyalty to the Word of God and we are asked to take it or leave it based on that precept......and that many men won't do. God Bless him, now with God, and those who read and stay true to the whole of the Gospel.
