This is an absolutely amazing book on self-discipline and creativity.If you're an entrepreneur, an artist, a writer, scientist or just about anybody with an internal urge to CREATE something but cannot because of distractions, fears, doubts and apprehensions, then this is the book for you.This will book show and define the #1 thing that's stopping you from bringing out your creative potential. Because that's the way an artist must operate, not caring for the fruits.And I can attest my success in my business & job for JUST that. I gave up all hopes, desires & doubts I had.I didn't care. I just decided to do the work, punched in my time and 3 years later, I'm at a level that's shocking for many (but something I dreamed about).However, I still have a lot of blocks where I didn't express myself and get the creative part of me and I'm fortunate to have come across this book.Anyone who is here to CREATE something - read it. TLDR: This book is a written equivalent of Shia LeBeouf's "Just Do It" motivational speech - something that tries to be inspiring, but is cut with an undercurrent of crazy and unsupportable conjecture. It will resonate with some people and turn others off. Read on for a more detailed explanation.The books is, roughly, divided into three sections: Resistance, Combating Resistance, and Beyond Resistance.The first section was actually really good. It mostly got into what Resistance is - the counterforce to achievement - and the various ways it manifests itself. While not based on any sort of evidence or research, this section lays out an allegorical enemy worthy of an epic struggle.The second section is mostly about how a professional behaves and how this behavior can overcome Resistance. The summary of this section is: show up, do the work, don't get distracted. This was the most prescriptive section of the book, but I'd say it leaned more towards inspiration than prescription. If someone complains that this book is "just common sense", it is probably this section they are referring to.Emboldened by a couple solid sections, the author goes completely off the rails in the third. The book becomes very religious, espouses lousy pop psychology, and makes outlandish claims. If I were to sum this section up, I'd say the author puts forth the idea that the artist is a conduit for some sort of divine inspiration or work, made manifest through the benevolent intervention of angels. That might be slightly harsh summary, but not too far off the mark. He literally says "We were put here on earth to act as agents of the Infinite" and "The artist is the servant of that intention, those angels, that Muse." Okay, perhaps he's just being allegorical. Nope. When talking about the fruits of our labor, he says "That is to do the work and give it to Him. Do it as an offering to God."Putting the religious aspects of section 3 aside, the rest of it is the worst kind of shoot-from-the-hip psychology. He does a deep dive into the Ego - ignoring the conventional definition and redefines it for his own purposes. He tries to draw a distinction between a hierarchical and territorial mode of thinking - unsuccessfully. He makes outlandish claims, like ignoring the authentic self may be the cause of cancer and embracing the self might be its cure. He, literally, says that becoming your authentic self could cure cancer. He goes on to explain how the colloquialisms for inebriation - stoned, smashed, hammered - are all referring to the destruction of the Ego in order to access the Self. There's no etymological basis for his statement. There isn't even any anecdotal evidence to support this. When speaking about the relationship between a mother and her child, he says "She knows it came out of her but not from her, through her but not of her." It's an interesting thought, but biologically incorrect. Lastly, he makes claims that are openly contrary. He says "Union and mutual assistance are the imperatives of life", but a few pages later says it would be incorrect to call friends for reassurance if you were feeling anxious. To me, this section felt like a mess and it ruined the book for me.In summary, this book does not have any sort of authoritative voice on procrastination, productivity, or personal achievement. It is a snapshot of a specific artist's mental model of the creative struggle. If you are looking for some sort of cogent or practical insights, then you will be disappointed. If you would describe yourself as spiritual and, probably, believe that crystals have curative properties (no judgement), then this book will probably speak to you.

I read the foreword and first groaned a little with the god talk. I continued to read. I couldn't make it to book three. This the first time in awhile I couldn't finish a book. Judging by how much I agree with many of the other 1 star reviews, I can only expect a greater degree of suffering and discomfort as the book "goes off the rails" in book 3. I find it interesting the five star reviews that say this book is motivating. I actually found it depressing and full of negative energy. It's riddled with feelings of guilt (the Christian kind), xenophobia, intolerance, disarray and just plain ignorance. It's full of strong opinions and weak on coherence and logical reasoning. I found the author contradictory in many cases. Also, the format is terribly annoying.Summary: Book 1: stop procrastinating. Book 2: just do it. Book 3: make art for god? If there is a god, please help steer others away from this silly book.

Thought provoking book. The sections on Resistance really resonated with me. I can find a thousand things to do instead of creating my art and, at my age, if I don't take control and overcome Resistance pretty soon, my time will be up. Not being a "God" believer, the last part of the book left me cold. I suppose I could extrapolate those sections into forces of the universe, but it was a let down to have to wade through all that anyway. One message is clear: Start. Open your eyes and your heart to supporting forces (people) that will cross your path (like never noticing another Land Rover on the road until you buy one and suddenly they are everywhere), and create for the sake of creating.

My kid's birthday is coming up and she will be excited when she sees this. The calendar is the same nice quality as last year's Pusheen calendar, which I also got her. This year's has a different cover, the mermaid is cute. The paper is glossy and thick and seems pretty durable. Pusheen collectors will love it.

I love Pusheen! I've been buying this adorable calendar ever since the first one came out a few years ago! It's super cute and such a joy to see what pusheen does every month! I use the stickers to mark birthdays. As long as they keep making pusheen calendars I'll keep buying them year after year!

This calendar was worth the money! So cute and rigid! I love how thick the paper is. And the stickers that came with it. I will be feeling happy in 2019!

I love Pusheen so obviously a Pusheen wall calendar for my office space was a must. The paper is shiny and thick and I really like the 12-pack of stickers that came with it. The reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it seems that there are two versions of the 2019 wall calendar...a US version (this one) and a UK version. While the UK version is costlier, the illustrations are far more beautiful and I'd prefer if that option was more widely available to US customers.Still, for the price and quality (and the fact that it's Pusheen!), I highly recommend this.

This is everything you could ever want in a calendar. It has months. Days of the week (they are numbered). Also comes with a sheet of stickers!I got one of these for Christmas last year and was sad not to receive the same gift this year. So I ordered one for myself! And at less than $8 you can't beat the price. :3

This calendar is super cute but it’s missing two months!!! February and October are just two giant blank pages. Not cool. My daughter was super disappointed when she opened it up on Christmas.

I've been impatiently waiting the second edition ever since I heard it was coming. If you're like me, looking for an excuse to re-read Refactoring, now is the time. Some of the new refactorings, like Split Phase, fill me with glee because there's finally a formal approach to something I've just been winging for several years now. It draws attention to the practice of splitting out computations from rendering/formatting, which is an unfamiliar topic for many developers but it's absolutely crucial for high-quality code. There's a strong mix of classic refactorings from the original book, too, updated and broadened to apply to any programming language. I am very happy with the code formatting on kindle, which has rarely been the case. Definitely worth the wait!

The font the code is printed in is very condensed and hard to read.The content of the book is in plain old Javascript, which was surprising for a 2018 book. Typescript would have been a better choice, IMHO. No one actually writes plain old Javascript nowadays.Disappointing, could have been better. No worthy of a $50+ price tag.

This book arrived in perfect condition. After reading another review, I checked over my book for missing pages. There were none. It is a Christmas gift for my husband. I can't comment on the contents of this book, so I posted some photos to let you see for yourself. Hope they help!

I'm gonna have to say I'm pretty disappointed by this book. I really like the author's others books, such as UML distilled and NoSQL distilled, but definitely not this book. First of all, this book is really verbose. For example, is there really a need to use three pages to explain the pattern "Decompose Conditional" using small fonts? I would say half page is more than enough and this is essentially the whole pattern followed by this book. Secondly, most of the patterns the book talks about are pretty much "common sense" if you know how to design object oriented software. I can see this book can be useful for inexperienced programmers or students, but definitely not worth the time for experienced engineers. Finally, this book is very overpriced.

I adore Accounting, yet was struggling with a few concepts. I purchased this Survival Guide to assist with my struggles while studying the main Wiley Book. My instructor is often unavailable, and there are no dependable student resource center at my college. The main Wiley Book was sometimes confusing and its' illustrations were too simple when compared to the complex and often advanced Problem Questions. I was desperate. I had expected this Survival Guide to hold the answers to the Problem Questions in the main Wiley Book. This was most definitely not a Solution Manual.However, I wasn't looking for a Solution Manual, I was seeking an Instruction Manual. This fits perfectly. This Survival Guide provided its' own Problem Questions, and then, supplied the answer. Each page is packed with information, flows continuously. It offers brief introduction to concepts, provides tips, lists the Problem Questions and quickly provides the solution, the solution is often accompanied with concept training, decision making, and math detail. And as a plus, each chapter has a practice test with MC questions with immediate answers.This is an excellent source for the person who isn't just after the grade, but truly desires a practical understanding of Accounting concepts and practical math skills to obtain the results.

Best accounting book out there. I borrowed this in college but now I really want something to refresh my accounting skills to prep for CPA and this is the go to book. This book is huge and it is heavy and that means a lot of concepts and theories and that is why it is like the bible of accounting.The pricing is ridiculous when you buy it new, just get the cheapest one if you like but to catch up in the recent cases simply go to your school library to get up to date. No biggie. Almost everything is the same, and if you know how book publishes work than you know not to buy books new. I would say scam but I might get sued . Oops.Overall, great book to use as reference as well as catching up your learning of accounting. Price was good when I bought it used and just buy it already if you are going for the CPA.

All accounting and survival non-accounting majors: this book is a perfect accompaniment to main textbook. It is an instructional manual on how to solve simple and increasingly complex problems. It gives line by line instruction on how to solve acctg questions. I call this book a must!! Especially in the common absence of good education/instructors, in which only simple scenarios provided, and no q&a time provided. Education must be had though, and self-study, patient review in a quiet room will serve you well. Will prove 100% effective in training for CPA exams well, and most definitely improve your confidence/grade/skill.

Every student rightfully complains about publishers coming out with a new edition of a textbook more often than seems reasonable (or possible). Taking Intermediate Accounting this semester and had to purchase the access code for WileyPlus, which comes with the e-textbook. Great. I don't have to buy one. But.... there is no search or index feature in the e-textbook AND they don't make it easy to flip back and forth between pages/sections. In what they call the "frontal material" there is a list of changes in this new and improved edition. Soooo, buy the previous edition for a fraction of the price and you'll have substantially the information in the new edition! Use as a companion for the e-textbook and you've got it all.Now, a word of warning... these authors assume a level of prior knowledge and clairvoyance which you may or may not possess. This book is filled with information, but does not get high marks for speaking plainly. How to get through the classes? Buy or rent a print copy of the textbook, buy or rent the study guides and the problem solving survival guides. Until you know this stuff cold, you're just doing bookkeeping.

The textbooks by Kieso,, Kimmel, and Weygandt are filled with information. The problem is they assume students have a level of prior knowledge and some clairvoyant ability which, for me, has gone dormant while carrying a 20-unit course load. If you're instructor is using WileyPlus to have you submit work online, don't expect to find a search tool or textbook index on WileyPlus. Moreover, don't expect to find detailed explanations of how they arrived at the solutions to the exercises. They aren't there. This book does not duplicate the exercises (check out the Problem Solving Survival Guide for that), but it does give you 1) a brief synopsis of principles, concepts, definitions, and other 'gotta remember that' stuff, as well as lots of practice questions/exercises and, not just the answers, but the thought process and methodology to get those answers. If you can resist the temptation to scribble in the book, check above to see if Amazon/Apex Media has rentals available. :D

Love the loose leaf style of this book. It makes it so much easier to work with than the bound text. You can just take the chapters with you that your are currently studying and leave the rest at home for reference later. Only warning I can give (and it has nothing to do with the seller, they were great to work with) is that the self tests on the publisher's website contain errors. Some of them do not have a correct answer to the question (they are true/false and multiple choice). A couple of them had a correct answer to choose from, but when the test was corrected on-line you were marked as incorrect, but the answer that they listed was the answer that you had indicated. SPOILERS BELOW----------I liked this entire book, literally until the last 50 pages this book was fantastic, 5 stars infact, the last 50 pages of this book we're so bad that I felt it was warrented to drop 3 stars.The ending was god awful, I cannot believe the author in the last 20 pages, after 1500+ pages of Cal and Mare romance to end with Mare giving Cal the cold shoulder after literal torture by Maven and 100 other things and him giving up the crown at the end all to literally end up being cock blocked by Mare in the last 20 pages.The ending of this book is one of the worst endings I've ever read, I have never came across a series that has put 1500 pages of effort into a romance and stiffs the main characters at the end, EVEN THE SIDE CHARACTER THAT WE DONT CARE ABOUT ENDED UP WITH HER LOVER! While the author stiffed the main characters!There is no sin in my book worse than ruining a massive spanning romance by giving the guy the cold shoulder at the end of a series, I would of preferred Cal to get killed off than read the last 20-50 pages over again, especially the very end.It's almost like the author wanted to leave room for additonal books, but then utterly ruined the entire romance with the "Give me distance" vibe at the end.I will not be buying anymore books from this author, this ending was that upsetting to go through everything these characters did and then for the author to ruin it all in the last 20-50 pages.I would not buy this book if your a fan of romances ending well or even badly, this author attempted to stay "neutral" on a romance she tried building for 1500+ pages and it leaves you as the reader, extremely angry and unsatisifed.

I LOVED the first 2 novels. The third was good also, but this one was just-predictable. There’s this tug of war between Mare & Cal & I feel like the epilogue just didn’t satisfy my hunger. It feels incomplete & I’m left feeling blah at the end. I’m disappointed for that to be the ending to a series that began so great.

Awful. Just awful.1. There were hundreds of pages of filler that I found myself skimming over. I was glued to every word of the previous books, but almost gave up reading this one. Still, I continued, because I love the characters developed in the previous books and I had to know how it ended!2. This book also had very little character development. Nothing was added from the previous books. In fact, it almost seemed like someone else wrote it at times.3. The whole book seemed avoidable with a 2 minute conversation between Mare and Cal.4. The ending was even worse! After fighting for everything Mare and Cal had, this is how it ended?! It felt like the author gave up. Completely. It didn't fit with the story, or with any actions the characters would have ever taken. Ever. It didn't make sense. I've wasted hours and hours of my life, for this!5. I was promoting this series to friends and family to read. However, after this, I will tell them not to bother. And, I won't bother reading anything else from this author.Grave disappointment!

The final installment of this series left me with a bitter taste in my mouth....no, not because, as other commentators have pointed out, Mare and Cal don’t get a fairytale ending, but for other reasons:Mare and Cal have both undermined one another over and over. They understand and love one another, but have different ambitions, opinions, and goals. Their ending was, I feel, believable and as sweet and hopeful as could be expected.!!!Spoilers for the first books and vaguely-phrased spoilers for this one ahead!!!No, my gripe is with “the other Calore” No, no, no, not because I was team Maven: that ship sailed burning over the horizon long ago – no way on earth that was going to end happily. But, Maven’s mind was torn apart by his mother: so much of what he did was literally out of his control. It was a fascinating premise, and I really did look forward to how it was handled. How was it handled, you ask? Poorly. It was an opportunity to explore mental illness and culpability; dogmatism and forgiveness. I’ve struggled with whether or not these themes were addressed, and I just didn’t like the message the author decided on....but no, I think not. It was just used as an opportunity to .....show Mare in a certain light. For a more in-depth (and spoiler-filled!) commentary on that, see the comment attached to this review.Adding to this, other characters who have committed atrocities for ambition, out of ignorance, or just for funsies are given free passes, because they were revealed to have some “redemptive quality” – usually romantic in nature. Ah yes, character X killed hundreds of Reds, contributed to political instability, etc....but it turns out character X has a lower-class lover! Cool, send them to the land of milk-and-honey!As for pacing, the book dragsssss. It’s told over multiple viewpoints, which should give us nuanced insights into each faction’s motivations....except that those motivations were often so bland and and cringe-worthy, I found myself skimming them by the end.Four books, two novellas....aaaaand more on the way! Because that ending *facepalm*. I have never seen a more blatant cash-grab. The epilogue should have just read, "ending coming soon.....for just three more installments of $4 in novella form!" I admire Aveyard's writing, I really do. But how this series was dragged out was unnecessary, and contributed to more money out of my pocket for less quality. I'm not putting any more money into this series, and I'm extremely hesitant to invest in any more from this author, if this is her standard.Ultimately, three stars for an interesting premise, nuanced romance between characters whose backgrounds put them at odds, and decent world-building. Minus two stars for trying to force me to care about characters that I don't care about, dragging the story though too many books, and turning a nuanced villain into ....whatever that was about.

I am so sad about this ending. I thought the ending of Divergent was horrible, but at least there was an ending. I am so angry right now.

Last book with an ending like that?!!? I'm usually one to re-read books that I love over and over.. Won't be doing that here, not with how I feel finishing it the first time around
