About the Author
Baird T. Spalding, whose name became legend in metaphysical circles during the first half of the 20th century, played an important part in introducing to the Western world knowledge of the Masters, who are assisting and guiding the destiny of mankind. Born in England, at age four he went to India. At age seventeen he finished the University and went to California where he stayed two years. He then traveled to Heidelberg, Germany and studied for eight years and then returned to California for post-graduate work in Archaeology at Berkeley and Stanford. After years of working with publisher Douglas DeVorss to write and promote the Life & Teaching series, Spalding died in 1953 in Arizona.

I've only read volumes 1 & 2 and I loved every minute of it. The events described are amazing. It's especially encouraging to know that these events took place in 1894 and were witnessed AND recorded by a group of scientists. These were serious men who were on a mission to investigate rumors and legends surrounding a group of mystics who are ready to share their knowledge and skills with those who are open to some really fantastic feats. I'm currently studying this area of interest under the tutelage of a man who has been practicing for over 45 years and has met some of the mystics mentioned in these books and more. It's truly astounding.
If you are drawn to these series of books, that is enough. Something is different, even if you don't "get it" you got it! These books invite you to suspend every limiting belief and wether you believe that what takes place in the pages and stories shared...what if?! It matters not! Truth is Truth. Love Is. May you be inspired as I have over the 20+ years I have read and reread these books, each time for the first time, as I Am a different person each time I sit and read the inherent wisdom and Truths in these pages.
All the books in the series reveal something new for me. The authenticity of the author has often been in question in certain circles along with many others that have written similar material.For me, Spalding tells his story his way. There seem to be some overlap in events and information with other writers of the same timeframe, Yogananda in particular. Although both men came from very different backgrounds, they both kept their feet on the ground but their eye on eternity.
I gave this book to the students in my A Course of Love Class as an opening into imagining a living life rather than just a survival based life.
These series of books have been around for almost 100 years. I have read them several times, beginning 40 years ago. They have helped me to understand the limitlessness of our potential. Now we read it aloud together as a group. Ten folks of varying ages and it works for everyone. A true blessing.
I am grateful for the many reminders in this book. We are awesome beings with amazing infinite potentialities within us as our True nature. It is so inspiring to remember that the Great Teachers are just like us -- only they remember and they are AWAKE. My intention is to be fully AWAKE too.:-)
Rather expensive however. I have had and given away several of the entire physical sets of this fascinating set of metaphysical books. I just think Kindle has priced it too high for the set. It is electronic and so all the manufacturing steps are eliminated, so this is just too expensive. I will wait and see if the price is adjusted for the other books, and if not, will simply keep my bound books... this time.
I have had read many many books on spiritual developement but this set of six books are on going tutorial of what its all about .All my questions answered . I have had my mind stretched.my belief strengthend.YOu can feel the truth of his experiences .WHat a lucky lucky man to have met the masters and gone through all those experiences five times five out five star rating funny that as five is the number of god !!!!!
