Looking for a book to help you improve at curling? I pity you.The selection is slim, they are hard to hunt down, and much of the early stuff predates the free guard zone. A book with a very similar name ("curling to win") is one of these. That book is of the same style as this one, and it is also good.Here is an excerpt from the table of contents, leaving out stuff like the rules, glossary, ethics, etc:Ch1 - Getting started (14 pages)Ch2 - The Delivery (17p)Ch3 - Sweeping (11p)Ch4 - Game Plan (17p)Ch5 - Shot selection and strategy (47p)Ch6 - Team building (19p)Ch7 - Mental Toughness (9p)This book is most valuable to a new and enthusiastic curler. It scratches the surface on everything. It is a beautiful book, heavily padded with large, full color photos.Sure 47 pages looks like a lot for strategy, but half of that is pictures, and much of the rest are pages half full of text. The text is good, and there are some gems, but I didn't put this book down thinking, "Next time I play, I can be better by doing X".Am I not selling this well? You should buy this book if you are relatively new to curling, have never read a curling book before and have been searching for one.
Hits all the main topics of curling. This is a must for any curler's library. If you are a beginner, you should read it right after your learn-to-curl. If you are an experience curler and have not read it, then no matter your level of play, you will learn something from it.
Bought this as a gift for someone who loves to curl. He finds it to be clear and give great instructional tips. He is often bringing new people to the sport so this helps him articulate the parts that you forget you need to explain. It also has good info on improving your game for current curlers.

Nothing earth-shattering that will make you a world class curler overnight but an entertaining book to read with some tips that can help you become a better curler.
Great book for out curling family
I bought this for the "curling theme" for my girlfriend who is a big fan of the sport. I'm just sorry I did not think of it sooner. I saw this in our public library some time ago. Good photographs and descriptions to help explain the sport and tips to improve base skills.
This is a great read whether you are a new curler or have been curling for years. Russ adds his own experiences (successes and failures) to drive home a point.
